My Whole30 Journey

On May 11, 2015, Kory and I embarked on The Whole30 Challenge for the first time.  We’ve made a lot of nutritional improvements over the last two years — making more things from scratch like salad dressing, bread, and spice blends. We’ve increased our fruit and vegetable intake. We’ve eliminated all sodas and other sugared drinks. We’ve cut back on caffeine. We’ve transitioned to organic and grass-fed when we can. And we’ve even planted our own garden. But we’re still concerned that things like dairy, grains, legumes, soy, and sugar that do remain in our diet may be contributing to issues such as poor sleep, body aches and pains, sinus and respiratory issues, and seasonal allergies. So we decided to answer this question once and for all:

How are the foods we eat impacting our overall health and wellness?

I decided to journal my experience here on the blog (and as Kory takes note of the changes in his own body, I’ll try to highlight those too) to inspire and encourage others who desire to live a healthier lifestyle and are considering taking the challenge themselves.

On this page, you will find a journal entry for each day of our challenge. Throughout the week, I will also publish posts including my journal entries. So subscribe to the blog via email, Like Us on Facebook, Follow Me on Twitter or Pinterest, or visit this page regularly if you want to stay in the loop!  I will include thoughts on how I’m feeling, changes I’m noticing in my body, and helpful hints that are getting us through the challenge such as recipes, shortcuts and substitutions, and tips for meal planning and preparation. If you have questions, or if you’ve already done this and have helpful hints to share, please feel free to post them in the comments!

Let the challenge begin!
